Job Purpose:
We are seeking a Pre-trade Market Analyst for a first class company located in Calgary, AB. Our Client’s Nat Gas and Power groups require short-term, supply, demand and pricing analysis associated with various trading strategies. This position will provide gas analysis to support the trading, marketing and business development initiatives of the Northern Gas trading team - for the regions including Canada, US Midwest and US Midcon. This position would sit in Calgary.

Reporting Relationships:

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Manager of Market Analysis - Canada.

Job Dimensions:
The successful applicant will draw daily on their skill set in both theoretical and quantitative analysis methods. The ability to quickly and accurately manipulate large volumes of data will be paramount to success. As such, strong computer skills with respect to excel or database management is essential.

The successful applicant will make a strong commercial contribution to the success of a very material component of the group’s business by regularly delivering insight on the North American natural gas market fundamentals.

Accountabilities:

• Conduct natural gas supply/demand and transport analysis for the geographic areas: Canada, U.S. Midwest and Mid-continent.
• Market-fundamentals research in the areas of LNG supply, demand, transportation and prices. This analysis will include tracking markets for other fuels and industries as they impact the natural gas market throughout the globe.
• Liaise with trading analytics across the Company in order to coordinate North American natural gas market analysis.
• Prepare and communicate market analysis to all commercial stakeholders (including traders and originators) in a variety of forms including daily/weekly reports, weekly meetings and daily interaction with traders.
• Compare and contrast internal views with external views from consulting community.
• Conduct/support ongoing research on longer term issues impacting the North American natural gas market.
• Contribute to the wider mission of the trading analytics group – become an integral part in the success of our business model.

 Compensation is market oriented and based on skillset.
